Tools of the TradeI use the new Sony XDCAM EX-3 HD camera. This is a full frame 1/2" chipset, 1920 X 1080 HD camera, capable of 720p or 1080p recording. I have the standard lens, a wide angle lens plus an adapter for Nikon telephoto lenses. A matte box holds a polarizer or grads. I keep at least 12 16gb SDHC cards, each recording 1 hour of high def video. A smooth operating Vinten fluid head tripod as well as a PSC 3 channel audio mixer, 2 Sennheiser wireless and a shotgun mic on a fishpole round out the basic package. The XDCAM EX has been tested and fully accepted by Discovery HD Theatre. Only the best broadcast HD cameras can make that claim. HDV & P2 cannot. Many web video producers are using inexpensive cameras and the results show. I edit on a 17" MacBookPro with Adobe Premiere CS4. I can burn DVD's and encode HD for web use.
